Dreaming of a Hopeful Death
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux
Dreaming of a Hopeful Death is an experimental visual novel based on the book of the same name that is an introspective philosophical and hard science fiction journey through the universe which tries to answer the question of what would happen if the entirety of the human race had its free will taken away and was forced on an unending trip through space until the heat death of the universe. How would it think? How would it act? How would it react to its fate as it watches life proliferates through the galaxy and withers away while the universe decays into nothing? Galactic empires rise and fall. Stars vanish and black holes decay, but Humanity remains to reminisce upon a fading past while it journeys through reality like a ghost marking the end of time.
With a story based on the novel of the same name (Dreaming of a Hopeful Death) and images generated by OpenAI Dall-E, embark on a surreal and inhuman experience that shows how the lines between the individual and the group, the lines between human and inhuman, and the lines between the temporary and the permanent begin to become blurred.
This game is still under development and the alpha version has been made available for free for anyone to enjoy. This is the first visual novel I have ever published, so if any bugs or issues are noticed, please leave a comment and the version of the game you are using so that it can be addressed in the next update. More images will be added in addition to sound effects and possibly character sprites in future updates.
Content Warning: This game has no nudity or violence, but it may contain some unsettling images and references to suicide and death.
